I have a confession to make

R came back again, saying that he regretted it again, and I tried to make it work with him again.

Yes. Yes, I am.

But hey – you learn from mistakes. You can make the same mistake once twice okay fine, four times, but you learn from it… eventually. You learn that people don’t change. You also learn the man you thought was the love of your life is an asshole, and that you’re better off without him.

So, where do I stand at the moment?

Lisa’s life in a list:

1. I have ended things amicably with R, whose last text to me was a smiley face 🙂 Because breaking down my walls and pouring my heart out in a last text message warrants only a smiley face.

2. I have booked my flight back to Malaysia and will be home on July 11th. Immediate plans are to binge eat, play with my cat, and get a tan. Long-term plans are to become supreme overlord of Malaysia and open a bakery selling cupcakes and brownies.

3. My final weeks in London have been fantastic. Look at me doing fantastic things, like:

Being on a boat with the nicest guy I’ve met, but subsequently fucking that up because I made a conscious decision to give my asshole ex another chance. #lessonsfromLisa: Don’t fuck things up.

Binge eating. Remember, kids: People let you down, but food never lets you down.

Trying to be skinny and all that.

Trying to be hench and all that.

My body is confused.

Writing this blog post on a Thursday evening.

Well done, Lisa. Your life has peaked.

This guy agrees.

4. Staying positive and spamming my Twitter (@lisajariffin) followers with cheesy quotes like these:

5. I suppose I’ll have to find a job, at some point. But that’s for future Lisa to worry about.

So that’s my very short update.

I have been well, most of the time.

I firmly believe that happiness is a state of mind. I also firmly believe that no matter how hard life gets, you just have to pick yourself up and move on. You just have to live life to its fullest, because it’s the only thing you can do.

AMENDED POST: This is a burger place review

Yesterday, I disclosed an unfortunate incident which had led to my visit to the burger place in this post. Unfortunately, I was told to remove whatever I said because it offended the parties involved – serves them right. Anyway, I have removed the first portion  of the story, and below is the remaining part of my original post:

I picked Anisah up from her house in TTDI and we ended up at The Curve because we didn’t know where else to go. I don’t have a restaurant preference when I visit Mutiara Damansara (I tell a lie, I love Burger King and IKEA), but I’ve been dying to try out the new Johnny Rockets burger place along The Street. To my immense joy – Anisah did too!

OBVIOUSLY I had the Smoked House Single as it was the only burger on the menu without any salad. OBVIOUSLY. Vowing to eat healthily and lose weight does not apply when I’m out having burgers. And if I was going to ruin my diet anyway, I might as well go all the way.

Well, not ALL the way, because I had second thoughts about ordering a vanilla milkshake and opted for lime juice instead.

Urgh. Salad. Urgh.

My burger was tasty, but not mind blowingly tasty as some reviewers opine. The bun, albeit bigger than normal, had a thin and coarse texture and reminded me of the generic, cheap bread rolls you can buy in bulk in supermarkets. The patty on its own is bland, so thank goodness for lots of BBQ and chilli sauce! Additionally, I know I’m not a big fan of vegetables, but I always finish the salad that comes with my burgers. However, no amount of Thousand Island sauce could mask the bitterness of the shredded cabbage served on the side. Also, despite being assured that my lime juice would be “fresh”, it was obviously cordial. Liars. I know freshly squeezed lime juice from cordial!

I’ve definitely had much better burgers, and both Anisah and I agreed that a next visit is not something we would have in mind. But I suppose it’s another  restaurant option for me to visit when I’m at The Curve (I don’t know where else to go. I’m always at Burger King or IKEA). Maybe it about time I start trying out the other places.

Maybe. Just maybe.

I love routine, though.

I love being predictable.
